Community Forums

AgeOptions hosts community forums to get ideas from older adults, caregivers and senior advocates on how to improve our services and plan ahead for the changing needs of our communities.

Area Plan on Aging

The AgeOptions Area Plan on Aging is a planning, management and grant award public information document. It encompasses service delivery plans and priority issues over a three-year period.


Demographics

The older adult population in suburban cook county is rapidly growing. The appearance of the Baby Boom generation and the increased diversity within the older adult population are significant demographic shifts that will reshape aging services in our area and across the United States.

  • The 60+ population in suburban cook county increased by 16% between 1990 and 2010
  • In 2010, 14% of the population was over the age of 65
  • By 2030, it is estimated that more than 26% of residents will be over the age of 65

Between 1990 and 2010 the following demographic shifts occurred among those 60 and over:

  • The African American population increased by 204%
  • The Hispanic population increased by 296%
  • The Asian population increased by 384%
