Medicare loses an estimated $60 billion annually to fraud, creating stress for beneficiaries, families, and caregivers alike. AgeOptions, the Area Agency on Aging for suburban Cook County, and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) are ramping up efforts to educate the state’s older adults and people with disabilities during Medicare Fraud Prevention Week (June 3-9, 2024).
As part of its efforts to combat Medicare fraud, AgeOptions is spearheading three events during Fraud Prevention Week to support Illinois’ older adults and caregivers: an SMP Bingo Event on June 4 in Oak Forest, a Spanish language SMP event at the Consulado General de Mexico in Chicago on June 5, and a Fraud Fair Shred Event on June 6 in Chicago.
