We want to provide welcoming and inclusive services to all, regardless of sexual orientation, relationship status, and gender identity.
AgeOptions has received SAGECare Platinum certification, a distinction recognizing organizational competency to serve LGBT+ older adults. SAGECare is a division of SAGE (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders), the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT+ older adults.
AgeOptions created Thrive with Pride Cafes to combat social isolation among LGBT+ older adults and caregivers. This network of community sites provides social support and vital information to the LGBT+ community and caregivers in suburban Cook County.
Thrive with Pride Cafes are envisioned as safe spaces for older adults and caregivers to learn more about benefits, share their stories and discuss topics that matter in a safe and affirming environment. AgeOptions provides programming tailored to the needs and interests of participants at each site.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, all cafes are meeting online. Click here to find a café in your area to connect with others near you, or click here to find out about our monthly online program which is open to all. When face-to-face gatherings are again safe for all, cafes will resume meeting in person at least once a month at our partner sites.
Thrive with Pride Cafes are made possible with funding from Community Memorial Foundation and The Chicago Community Trust.
