AgeOptions Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Celebrating Our Impact is the theme of AgeOptions in 2024 as we celebrate our 50^th Anniversary.

Established on June 20, 1974, through the Older Americans Act, we celebrated 50 years in service as an Agency on Aging in 2024.  On June 20, we hosted a 50^th Anniversary Celebration at the Hyatt Oak Brook Lodge for partners, legislators, staff, AgeOptions alumni, and people within the aging network.

More than 200 people attended the event which included a symposium, presentations, awards, panel discussions, and an anniversary video. Speakers were from national and state organizations, including USAging, Health Benefits ABCs, AARP, Alzheimer’s Association, Illinois Family Caregivers Coalition, RUSH Medical Center, Soar Strategies, University of Chicago, Illinois Department on Aging, RRF Foundation for Aging, and Illinois Commission on LGBTQ+ Aging.

Former State Senator Ann Gillespie, State Representative Elizabeth Hernandez, State Senator Kimberly A. Lightford, State Representative Camille Y. Lilly, and State Senator Laura M. Murphy received 2024 AgeOptions Champion Awards for their outstanding support of older adults.
