Our June 11th webinar on PSI and Estate Recovery was brought to you by our presenter Meghan Carter, a legal aid attorney at Legal Council for Health Justice who focuses on Medicaid policy and advocacy, including improvements to estate recovery.
Medicaid’s Spousal Impoverishment Protection (SIP) provision make it possible for an individual who needs a nursing home level of care to qualify for Medicaid while allowing their married spouse to retain a modest amount of income and resources. Estate Recovery is the process by which the state can recoup Medicaid-related costs from a deceased beneficiary’s estate.
This webinar covers the basics of spousal impoverishment protection and Medicaid estate recovery, including recent reforms to reduce disparities in Illinois. Below you can find the slides and recording.
