Explaining AABD Spenddown to clients can be difficult, here are two resources to help you! The first is a PowerPoint presentation that was created to help teach the concept to others. The second is a word template that explains how an AABD Spenddown works in simple clear-cut language. It is designed to give to a client after they have enrolled in an AABD Spenddown. (We recommend saving the Excel document as an Excel Template. This will allow you to open a blank spreadsheet every time, without running the risk of saving over old work.)
This tool is designed to track and simplify the medical bill collection process. It includes many features, including the ability to automatically calculate the client’s monthly spenddown amount, the total amount of their medical bills, the amount of bills needed to meet an additional month of AABD Spenddown, the date range of acceptable medical bills in relation to the scheduled ABE submission date, and more. Instructions are included in the spreadsheet, and a video tutorial is available as well.
